Virginia Corporate Research Center- “Your Voice” with John Balser
On this week’s episode of “Your Voice”, John sits down with Dawn Myers the Chief Operating Officer of Virginia Tech Corporate Research Center in Blacksburg, VA. Established in 1985, the VTCRC has grown to house over 200 research, technology, and support companies.
Prior to being the COO of the VTCRC, Dawn graduated from Radford University with a degree in Business Administration and began her role at the VTCRC in 2003. Within the interview, Dawn discusses what the VTCRC is, but also some very exciting projects for the future, including COGro and COchats. The idea of COgro was created in June of 2019 and was put into full effect on October 1st. It is a co-working space that already has 46% of it’s space filled with tenants. Although it is a place for representatives of different companies and organizations to work, COgro has also become a place of collaboration and an opportunity for people to meet and get to know one another. Along with COgro, another project in the works is COchats which brings in outside companies to provide services. The CRC hopes that this will bring in outside companies to grow the membership. The CRC has plans to add three buildings within the next year as well as adding more amenities to the campus including expanding the current coffee shop and adding an outdoor patio.
When Dawn is not at the CRC, she is usually outside hiking or kayaking or is serving in Church.
