Stay Productive While Working From Home

With the on-going situation of COVID-19, many companies are requiring employees to work from home for an unknown period of time. Working from home is very different from physically going to the office, and we have provided tips on how to work from home and to help you feel and be as productive as you are when you are in the office.

1.Make a To-Do List: Many people make to-do lists already while at work, but at the same time people get into a routine where they do not have a list to refer to. But changing locations to a place where you might not be used to working, can throw off your mind and body causing you to have a difficult time staying focused. Writing down goals for the day, the week, and even the month will help you stay on task and become less distracted.

2. Take a Break: When in the office, many people get up throughout the day for various reasons, to go to a meeting, pick up something from the printer, or simply to go chat with co-workers. At home, that can be more challenging because everything is now done virtually. Scheduling breaks can not only help your productivity, creativity, but most importantly your mental and physical health. Take a walk around the block, get a snack, or simply standing up and not staring at a screen will help with improving your overall workday.

3. Pick an End of Work Time: Usually when it is 5 o’clock or when you see a co-worker leave, that is a good indication that the work-day is over, but very similar to knowing when to take a break, it is important to know when to end your physical work day. Try organizing your desk space so it is ready to go for the next day, turn off your computer and leave it. If you bring your laptop with you, there is a higher chance that you will check your work email, even though your workday is over. End your day calmly allowing your mind and body to be ready to work the next day.
